Nance,
The Hood is a fairytale retelling of Robin Hood with a twist。I loved the world building and the characters。 I definitely haven’t read a retelling of Robin Hood before where The Hood is a female character。This was an incredible story filled with adventure and would definitely recommend reading it!
Melissa,
So good! Exciting and teary eyed all in one。 Loved Robyn and Damien working together and her finding her place。 Loved the ending and cannot wait for more!
Arceli,
This book is a great fun continuation of the Twisted Kingdoms series。 The cast of characters keep on growing in each of the books。 What I loved most was the character growth。 The resilience of each of the characters is amazing。 The world building also is amazing。 I enjoyed how realms and magic systems expanded。 It was super fun。 The other thing I enjoyed is the romance。 Even though I would say it is a bit more of a subplot, it is super fun。 The chemistry among the main cast is sizzling。 For YA f This book is a great fun continuation of the Twisted Kingdoms series。 The cast of characters keep on growing in each of the books。 What I loved most was the character growth。 The resilience of each of the characters is amazing。 The world building also is amazing。 I enjoyed how realms and magic systems expanded。 It was super fun。 The other thing I enjoyed is the romance。 Even though I would say it is a bit more of a subplot, it is super fun。 The chemistry among the main cast is sizzling。 For YA fantasy lovers, go pick up this book。 。。。more
Rachel,
Don't worry The Hood is here。 The fifth book in the Twisted Kingdoms series is a Robin Hood meets Mulan retelling and this time Robin is a girl。 Robyn Lochslee is actually Lady Marien Robyn Lochslee that is and she's impersonating her twin brother John in the Royal army and when she returns home it's to devastation and corruption and Robyn feels like it's her duty to stop it。 Here comes the Hood。I love how interconnected this series is, we first hear of Robyn in a precious Twisted Kingdoms book, Don't worry The Hood is here。 The fifth book in the Twisted Kingdoms series is a Robin Hood meets Mulan retelling and this time Robin is a girl。 Robyn Lochslee is actually Lady Marien Robyn Lochslee that is and she's impersonating her twin brother John in the Royal army and when she returns home it's to devastation and corruption and Robyn feels like it's her duty to stop it。 Here comes the Hood。I love how interconnected this series is, we first hear of Robyn in a precious Twisted Kingdoms book, now it's her turn。 Can you imagine the strength she has to impersonate a male in the army in a world that views women as less, women who can't hold property or have any real power? However Robyn can keep up with the guys, she is darn good with a bow and arrow and isn't a bad fighter。 She does it all not to prove something, or recognition but for love。 She does it because her twin brother has always been sickly, to her family to keep their lands, and to protect her people from the dastardly Duke Merjeri and his evil son Ruslan。 Yes, Robyn is all kinds of strong, completely selfless has a great sense of duty, and has the biggest heart, seeing everyone from shifters, to servants, to highborn as equals。 Taking from greedy vile men and giving to those in need。 While she may still from the rich and takes from the poor she has also stolen a certain dragon's heart。 Remember when I said that the story was interconnected, well Damien, the Dragon King that we met in the second book is back and it's his turn to go on a journey and find love。 Who knew dragons could be so dramatic, Damien is still the flirtatious and fierce Dragon so you can imagine how things go when he and Robyn get together。 They may clash at first but things evolve into something a whole lot more。 I liked the Dragon before and I like him even more now。 Damien is possessive and protective and Robyn is fierce, defiant, and protective。 Damien loves all of Robyn's fiercest qualities, supports her in whatever crazy thing she wants, and without a doubt has her back。 Robyn and Damien make quite the pair。There are more characters that crossover。 Tempest and Pyre are back and even have their own chapter, not to mention Gustav (aka the Sheriff) is the lord's lackey who was causing trouble in the previous books is causing trouble again。 Speaking of Lord Merjeri he is really a supervillain。 Questionable deaths, attacks, intimidation, a drug ring, and is most definitely involved in some other criminal activities。 Ruslan is the spawn of the Devil, rarely have I felt so much hate towards a character。 His callousness, greedy, and superiority complex, is just the tip of the iceberg of what's wrong with him, and what's scarier is that Gustav seems to be a whole lot worse just without the power。The Hood was a fantastic Robin Hood retelling, a great adventure with high stakes, more fierce women, and daring romance。 I loved it and I'm so glad that Robyn and Damien got their HEA。 However, things aren't done in Heimserya yet, more key players are added to the board。 Looks like the next retelling is gonna be good。 In this book, we get to meet newcomer Scarlet and I give you one guess as to which fairytale character she is, here's a hint, Robyn isn't the only one with a hood。 I for one can't wait for the next Twisted Kingdoms book。 。。。more
